Siri may have just confirmed Apple’s Spring Event this month

Siri

Rumours about Apple’s Spring event have been coming and going for some time now, with some of the latest reports indicating that the event had been cancelled due to some unspecified reasons. Yet the validity of these report is spotty, to say the least, depending on who you ask. If you had to ask Siri, Apple’s virtual assistant baked into every iPhone, it’ll tell you to save the date for 20 April which is just around the corner.

Depends on how much faith you want to put in your virtual assistant. If you ask Siri, “When is the next Apple Event?” it’ll respond by saying, “The Special Event is on Tuesday, April 20, at Apple Park in Cupertino, CA. You can get all the details on Apple.com”. You can’t really get more of a confirmation than a name, a date and a location now, can you?

“Siri, what is Apple up to?”

The strange thing is that Siri only responds to that phrase in certain regions. If you’re based in Europe, you’ll need to switch the language to US in order to elicit the desired information. Which is more than a little strange yet numerous screenshots have indicated that the response is indeed real.

There’s always a chance that Apple had initially planned an event for April but given the uncertain nature of the times within which we live, plans could have changed at the last minute and Siri’s a little behind on its responses. If there is an announcement in a week’s time, it’ll most likely concern the new range of iPads that have been rumoured for a while now. They should sport new chipsets that will put them on par with Apple’s current range of MacBooks and iPhones.
