Check out this 3D-printed device that helps blind dogs get around
It’s a Monday, so we thought we’d kick off this Light Start with a bit of feel-good news to help you through those blues. Chad Lalande, an amateur designer, has designed a remarkably simple apparatus that can be strapped to a blind dog to help it navigate spaces without constantly bumping its head. Lalande envisioned and 3D printed the device to assist his 18-year-old pomeranian Sienna who is completely blind and obviously battles to find her away around the house.
How does it work? Well, the device is attached to your dog’s head via a central hoop, which supports a larger that surrounds the dog’s head. This is then secured to your dog via a back harness to ensure it doesn’t constantly slip down their head. “Sienna is still getting used to wearing it, but she complains less about it now,” said Lalande. “She’s 18 years old so she may not be around much longer, but if I can make her more comfortable in the time she has, all the better.”

Netflix will soon let you set timers for your shows
Evey started cooking a meal and thought, “I’ll just let this shimmer for a bit while I watch a spot of Netflix”? Seems like a good idea until you get to a scene that really sucks you in causing you to completely forget about what you were watching and burn the soup. That’s the thinking behind Netflix’s new timer feature which allows users to… well to set a timer on their shows.
When you’re watching a show, you can choose whether or not you want to set the timer and for how long you want it to run for. When the timer turns out, the show you’re watching is automatically paused. Speaking to Gizmodo, a spokesperson from Netflix said, “This test is… a new timer that gives members more control over their viewing experience by simply choosing their favourite show or movie and setting a timer without having to worry about pausing it before it’s over.”
Netflix has given you the tools to better police your watching. Now you have no excuse to burn your dinner or be late for that next appointment!

Watch the Snyder Cut of Justice League with a $130 themed meal box
Watching films at the cinema has become more than a little risky in recent years so it makes sense that Warner Brothers and HBO have turned to release their major films on streaming services. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is one such film and to really get the most of your at-home viewing experience, Warner Bros. is now offering themed, customisable meal boxes to snack on while you’re watching Batman and Superman punch many aliens in the mouth. Oh, the meal box itself only costs $130. Only.
It’s an excessive amount of cash to pay for some food in a faux Mother Box, an artefact of great import to the DC Comics universe. Warner Bros. has teamed up with Wonderland Restaurants to provide this gimmick to anyone who clearly as more money than they know what to do with. The actual boxes will contain a variety of themed foods including an “Ocean Trench” appetiser (which is apparently Icelandic cod and chips with trench dressing) and a “Big Belly Burger”, the name of an in-universe burger chain.
Unfortunately, these boxes are only available in the UK and US so bad luck if you’re in South Africa. Still, probably for the best considering how much of money they cost. That better be the best fish and chips anyone has ever eaten.

The new ZTE Axon 30 Pro will have a 200MP camera. That’s… a lot.
How many megapixels is too much? The ZTE Axon 30 Pro wants you to know that 200MP isn’t the limit and we should all be very excited about its fancy new camera. Honestly, the thought of camera that powerful on a phone is baffling but we’d be lying if we said we weren’t interested in seeing it action. Ni Fei published a social media post about the upcoming phone’s camera which will be able to take pictures with 2.7 billion pixels. Moreover, it’ll be able to pictures in dark settings with less than 0.1 lumens of light, will feature 10-bit colour support and 4K recording. That last one is fairly common at this point but 2.7 billion pixels? That’s wild.
The ZTE Axon 30 Pro will also make use of the newly unveiled Snapdragon 888 and the Spectra 580 image signal processor to render those images sharper than ever before… we hope. Honestly, this is all marketing guff so we want to see it in practice before we get too excited over the kind of power being thrown around here. There’s no official launch date for the ZTE Axon 30 Pro yet but we assume it’ll launch in the next few months.
