DStv Now now available on Apple TV devices

In addition to being available on Samsung smart TVs and Android TV boxes, DStv Now can now be streamed in HD on Apple TV boxes.

The app is only available on 4th generation (and newer) Apple TV devices, and if you’re still stuck with your 3rd gen box, don’t fret. Apple South Africa is playing the nice guy, because you can trade in your old box and receive R500 back. Then you’ve got a new TV box with R500 off the asking price… and then you can download DStv Now.

Interestingly, you can watch DStv for free on the app (or web browser) even if you’re not a DStv subscriber. It’ll grant you access to a limited number of local shows and certain sport channels, but pair it with a Netflix subscription and you’re largely set. Kinda.

The most compelling part of combining an Apple TV with the DStv Now app (with the premium subscription), is that it could double as a secondary decoder when travelling. Which… will also enable you to access Dual View.

Setting up DStv Now on your Apple TV is simple, just make sure to have an iTunes account set up beforehand and you’re good as egoli.
