Apple’s just overhauled its ultra-thin 12in MacBook, swapping the old CPUs for some of Intel’s latest chips to give them a bit of a speed boost.
As well as being faster, this new silicon uses less power, so you should be able to squeeze out an additional hour from a full charge. Thats 11 hours if you stick to video playback, or 10 when going online.
You can now get one to match your rose gold iPhone 6s too, making this the first time the MacBook range has had the colour choice guaranteed to divide opinions.
If you’re not convinced by pink, you can opt for the slightly less attention-grabbing silver, gold or space grey instead.
Otherwise, it’s basically the same excellent ultraportable laptop underneath, meaning you get a 12in Retina display, Force Touch trackpad and ultra-slim keyboard.
That also means Apple hasn’t added any extra ports, so you still have to make do with a single USB Type-C connector.
The MacBook Air got a minor upgrade too; 8GB of RAM now comes as standard across every 13in model.
With no news on upgraded MacBook Pros expected until WWDC in June, if you just can’t wait you can grab a 12in MacBook when they become available in SA. We’re waiting on a local pricing announcement and availability.
