Amazon to reveal something “amazing” on 18 June, probably a smartphone

Everyone thinks that Amazon has a Kindle smartphone in the works. Amazon is planning on unveiling something new on 18 June, according to a series of teasers on Twitter. You can do the math on that one and also look at the video above of Amazon customers talking about some unseen device while doing a little multiplication.

We’re definitely expecting to see Amazon’s long-rumoured smartphone, that is thought to track user’s eyes, feature a very interesting (possibly 3D) display and a bunch of specs that will make LG’s G3 go sit in the corner, as do other media outlets.

Bloomberg reports that the smartphone is definitely on the menu at Amazon’s Seattle event, citing “a person with knowledge of the matter” for their take on the situation. We reckon Amazon’s entry into the cut-throat world of smartphones is almost a forgone conclusion but we’ll keep everyone posted if anything more specific comes up before the event in a little under two week’s time.
