LG scores improved profits from TVs in Q4, plans to update its flagship phone

LG have released their financial results for the fourth quarter of 2013, doubling their 2012 operating profit for the quarter thanks to improved sales of televisions.

The company posted an operating profit of $220 million for the period. That didn’t stop them from experiencing a net loss of $59 million for the fourth quarter of 2013, something that has been placed at the door of aggressive marketing of LG’s mobile arm.

The South Korean company also teased details of a new flagship smartphone that they will unveil in February. There are few specifics on the device, which will be called the LG G Pro 2, but odds are good that we’ll be hearing more at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
