Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare dated for SA, incoming end Feb

If you blinked, you might have missed our look at Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare towards the end of last year but that isn’t much of a problem. The third-person action combat title featuring the denizens of one of the most popular mobile games in recent years will be appearing in stores from 28 February this year, according to an announcement from EA’s local representatives. This is a little later than we were expecting it to release.

The local announcement concerns the Xbox 360 version of Garden Warfare but a more general message from developer PopCap has shown that the game has been delayed everywhere, with both North America and Europe in general releasing the game towards the end of February.

When it launches Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will feature three gameplay modes, all of which will be familiar to fans of shooters. Garden Ops is a four-player co-op wave-based survival mode, where a team of players has to take on 11 waves of enemies before they’re extracted. There are two straight multiplayer modes as well, both of which are 12-a-side bouts. Team Vanquish is a take on shooter staple Team Deathmatch which Gardens and Graveyards is a base-defence gameplay mode.

Just to tide us all over until the game releases next month, here is a new developer diary detailing Garden Ops mode.
