Valve details Steam Machine prototype specs

Valve has made the specifications for its Steam Machine prototypes, 300 of which will be shipping to beta testers at some point later this year, official.

Steam has announced a varied set of machines, all of which are designed for some serious gaming. All of the living room rigs will be sharing the same form factor, measuring 12 x 12.4 x 2.9 inches (30.5 x 31.5 x 9.9cm) and each of them will feature a 450w 80Plus Gold power supply.

Also in common are the storage and system memory specs. Steam’s Machines will run 1TB/8TB hybrid SSHD configurations along with 16GB of DDR3 RAM.

Steam’s prototypes will be split between Core i7-4770 and Core i5-4570 processors, along with some unspecified Core i3 chips. GPUs will similarly vary, though all of the graphics solutions come from Nvidia. The Nvidia Titan, GTX780, GTX760, and GTX660 are all slated to appear in the systems. How the CPU and GPU options will be divided has not been specified.
