FNB eBucks and Pick n Pay partner up to provide discounts to grocery shoppers

FNB app carbon

First National Bank (FNB) eBucks and Pick n Pay (PnP) have teamed up to provide a range of discounts to customers who use both services regularly. You’ll already have seen one of these discounts out in the wild: FNB’s R0.99 loaves of bread, available up to four times a month.

At an online event in Johannesburg today, both companies announced further discounts for PnP/FNB customers, which take in the various eBucks tiers. As usual, the higher your eBuck tier, the better your rewards.

Economical FNB

FNB’s entry-level clients, meaning anyone with a bank account, can take advantage of affordable bread prices but from 1 November, several other discount tiers will go live. Aspire-level customers will receive a monthly voucher of up to R150 per month, based on their spend at PnP stores.

Premier-level customers can get up to 20% of their spend back from Pick n Pay shopping. Private Wealth and RMB Base customers get the best deal — up to 30% back of the money spent on PnP’s ASAP online shopping platform, up to 20% back from in-store shopping, and up to 20% back from purchases from PnP Clothing.

Given how the economy is currently hammering everyone, the discounts are likely to be welcome at every level. There’s one other feature going live on 1 November — PnP will let FNB customers spend eBucks to pay for their in-store (and presumably online) grocery purchases.

There are a few caveats that we’ll explore more as information becomes available but Pick n Pay-owned Boxer and PnP Express stores won’t participate in this offer. Company representatives have said that there’s more to come in the next six to eight months, including something specific to Boxer stores.

UPDATE: 30/10/24, 15h00

FNB’s presentation earlier today featured many of the details of the new eBucks/PnP partnership but not everything was covered in great detail. We’ve listed specifics below based on information provided by the banking institution.

FNB Easy customers, in addition to that super-affordable bread, are eligible for PnP vouchers of up to R100, valid for both the grocery store and PnP Clothing. Aspire customers, rather than netting a voucher as was originally mentioned, will receive up to R150 in eBucks. Since these can now be spent at Pick n Pay stores, that’s fairly close to the same thing.

Any FNB customer who takes part in the eBucks program will be able to spend those points at PnP stores from 1 November.
