The entire iPhone 16 line-up lands locally on 20 September

It’s been two days since Apple’s ‘It’s Glotwime’ event wrapped up, and the world has yet to cease its endless spinning. That’s not for lack of trying on Apple’s part, which recently announced the iPhone 16, 16 Pro, Watch Series 10 and some new AirPods (now with USB-C!). Now, we’ve got dates when we can expect those in SA.

Most of them, at least. Those new AirPods are still hiding, but everything else? Go ahead and mark 20 September in your calendars, ladies and gentlemen. In a turn of events quite at odds with South Africa’s tendency to miss the mark, the country will mimic the US launch date, allowing loyal Apple fans this side of the ocean to join in on the fun with everybody else.

Pricing, unfortunately, is proving just as elusive as ever. Considering the absurd prices fixed to last year’s iPhone 15 Plus and 15 Pro Max, we’d advise preparing for the worst, starting today. If picking up the new iPhone first is a must, you’ll need to scrounge up at least R22,000 for the vanilla 128GB iPhone 16, possibly more.

Unless of course, you’re condemning your wallet to a fixed contract, in which case, Godspeed. You’ll need to have the necessary finances in order by Friday, 13 September. That’s when pre-orders go live at the big sellers. The same goes for the Watch Series 10. Pricing, once again, has yet to be determined for the local market.
