Samsung Galaxy S24 leak suggests subtle redesign, titanium build, and (of course) AI

Galaxy S24 leak

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 is coming. It’s just a question of whether we’re getting the announcement in the last week of January or the first week of February next year. While we wait for that to be confirmed, there’s some new info about the handset lineup kicking around the internet.

Mostly it’s new information about the king of the series, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. In addition to the (probable) processor news, you can expect a slight change in how the S24 Ultra looks compared to this year’s model. More specifics on how AI will be implemented are also known. There are also build details and new images over at Windows Report.

Exploring Galaxy S24

Starting with the build, the S24 Ultra is set to launch in four new colours next year. These are Titanium Black, Titanium Grey, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Yellow. You might have spotted the common denominator. By dropping the ‘Phantom’ prefix, Samsung’s Ultra will feature a titanium frame. It’s speculated that the stock and Plus models of the phone will also have a titanium option. If so, expect a price uptick before you’re allowed to own it.

It looks as though the S24 Ultra will ship with a flatter front and rear section, bringing it into line with the smaller Galaxy units. The move away from the curved display will be strange for long-time Ultra users but we assume Samsung’s got its reasons. They’re probably titanium-related.

One of the AI-powered features we can expect from the Galaxy S24 Ultra (since that’s the one with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset) is the ability to translate messages in the messaging app to any one of over a dozen languages. This would happen in real-time, which will either showcase how far artificial intelligence has come or will allow it to fail very, very quickly. We’re not sure which we’d rather see. Both would be interesting but for very different reasons. Guess those real-time translation captions will have to wait a little while.

The report indicates that Samsung’s Galaxy S24 will launch with an Exynos 2400 processor, 8GB of RAM, and at least 128GB of storage. The S24 Plus will get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (meaning better AI features), 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and Super Fast Charging 2.0. That’s a funny name for 45W charging but maybe Samsung’s upped the speed a little. Guess we’ll see.
