Leave it to DStv to use its near-monopoly on the 2023 Rugby World Cup to drive its subscriber numbers. The company is offering a hectic special for its DStv Stream service that expires just before this weekend’s World Cup final between South Africa and New Zealand kicks off.
The price? Twenty bucks. The catch? You’re signing up for Multichoice’s Stream Access tier, which is usually billed at R100/m and requires an internet connection. This R20 special is just the first month’s pricing. Honestly, though? Even if you don’t watch anything else on the service, twenty bucks for access to the RWC final is worth it.

DStv Stream Access, at R100/m, is the service’s most limited option. As the name suggests, subscribers have access to Multichoice content — in this case, 55 different channels — without needing a satellite dish or decoder installed. That’s… handy because the RWC 2023 final will broadcast in about a day and a half. That doesn’t leave much time for installation.
Available channels on Access include Supersport Blitz, Supersport Variety 4, a range of (mid-tier) entertainment channels, and a chunk of wildlife and National Geographic content. The company also offers add-ons to tempt you to give them more money each month. Adding a Movies package or Showmax access will set you back R80/m and R50/m respectively.
But even if you don’t continue with DStv’s streaming service option following the World Cup final, R20 to see the Bokke play is… frankly, it’s amazingly cheap.
