October fuel prices will leave petrol drivers jumping for joy – diesel drivers, not so much

The time has finally come to see what the Department of Energy has in store for us this October. Yes, it’s time to take a look at the highs and lows that is October’s petrol prices. These prices aren’t at the stations yet. But if you’re a petrol driver, try and plan your fill up on Wednesday, 5 October. Diesel drivers… maybe try and fill up on Tuesday night before the increase.

Fuel prices across South Africa are set to change at midnight, 12 am on  Wednesday, 5 October.

Do you want the good news or the bad news first?

If the previous paragraph wasn’t enough of a hint, petrol drivers will be receiving yet another decrease this month, while diesel drivers are receiving a (relatively) small increase in prices.

Without further ado, here are your official October petrol prices:

And that’s it. Another good month for petrol drivers, and a slightly disappointing month for diesel drivers.

The official numbers are similar to those we reported on for the CEF’s end-of-September stats.

The Department of Minerals and Energy decide the official price based on a multitude of factors such as the Rand/Dollar exchange at the end of September. There’s also the price of oil which massively affects the month’s increases and decreases.
