The smartphone world is no stranger to special edition smartphones. Some of the better versions leverage beloved TV shows, others tend to lean in the direction of motoring. Realme’s GT Neo 3 is one of the former versions — the hard-to-locate brand has a Naruto-themed device inbound.
You might be familiar with Realme, but only in passing. The Chinese smartphone brand has yet to make inroads into South Africa, but we can hold out hope. Especially since the Realme GT Neo 3 Naruto Edition is a thing. And what a thing it is.
Naruto’s newest jutsu
There’s a 6.7in display, a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 5G chipset at its heart, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. The stock phone also has an 8GB/128GB version, but if you’re planning on being a smartphone Hokage, you’re going to pay for the better spec. Android 12 is installed, and the 4,500mAh battery should get you through your daily training. There’s a triple rear camera, with a 50MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, and 2MP macro sensor. And now, the good stuff.

The Naruto-specific design, inspired by the titular character’s uniform from early in the Naruto Shippuden series, is an obvious drawcard. There’s more, obviously. It comes in a box that looks like a ninja scroll. There’s a custom case for the phone, and even the SIM tool is shaped like the Hidden Leaf symbol. The 150W charging block is similarly themed, and there’s also a 33W 10,000mAh power bank included, plus a batch of Naruto digital bits on the phone itself. The best of these? Probably the custom charging animation.
Now, on to the bad news. The Realme GT Neo 3 Naruto Edition is only confirmed for a Chinese release, where it’ll go on sale on 31 May. If you want one, you’ll only have to drop about R6,500 for the pleasure. But first, you’ll have to figure out how to buy one from all the way in South Africa.
