If you, like us, weren’t able to stay awake long enough to catch the launch live, you have to know that everything has, so far, gone according to plan.
Inspiration4 goes well
If you haven’t checked the video out yet, you can catch the archived stream at the embed above. If you’re mostly concerned with the launch and orbital insertion of the all private-citizen mission to space, you can skip to the 04:15:00 mark on the video, which will drop you into the final few minutes of the countdown, the a) successful launch, b) successful booster landing and, around the +09:45 mark on the onscreen mission counter, confirmation of insertion into orbit.
Inspiration4’s crew, consisting of billionaire Jared Isaacman, Hayley Arceneaux, a physicians assistant at St. Jude children’s hospital, Sian Proctor and Christopher Sembroski, will spend three days in orbit around the planet, whipping around at a height of 575 kilometres above the surface of the Earth. Which, if you’re Richard Branson or Jeff Bezos, has to sting a little. Those two capitalists have made it rather high up, but Jared Isaacman has absolutely outdone them, thanks to SpaceX.
