WeThinkCode, the local software developer training academy will expand to yet another province (previously only in Gauteng and the Western Cape), and will establish a campus in Durban. Who said being able to talk to computers should be limited to only certain geographical locations?
Unlike most things post-2020, WeThinkCode believes a physical campus is imperative to allowing access to students. “The new facility will complement the school’s existing campuses in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and is part of an ambitious plan to double student intake to 600 this year,” WeThinkCode CEO Nyari Samushonga said in a statement, according to TechCentral.
Additionally, the training academy has secured a prominent monetary investment from E Squared Investments, a black economic empowerment partner to investment firm Allan Gray. The firm has agreed to invest a whopping R9.2-million into building, equipping, and staffing the new Natal-based campus.

What makes WeThinkCode special, though, is the fact that students don’t pay to enroll in the course, and it’s fully sponsored. “About 98% of graduates get jobs after finishing the course, at an average starting salary of R240 000/year,” according to TechCentral.
Before coding becomes compulsory in schools, this may be one of the most prominent academic institutions in South Africa at the moment. The ability to communicate with computers is one of the most sought-after skills for most future jobs, eh.
