WhatsApp’s “multi-device” feature, currently still being developed, gets an update

WhatsApp

In case you don’t know, WhatsApp is currently working on a feature that lets you use one account across multiple devices at the same time. The feature is simply called “multi-device” and is currently still in beta testing.

The multi-device feature has two functions. The first lets users use WhatsApp web (the extension that lets you send and receive WhatsApp messages on your computer) without having their phones connected to the internet. The second lets users connect multiple devices to their accounts and sync chats in real-time. Up to four devices can be connected at the moment (though this may change), even if their main device isn’t connected to the internet.

What’s new with WhatsApp?

WABetaInfo has revealed that, thanks to an update to the beta, the multi-device feature has a new “log out” option. The option, as its name makes clear, lets users unlink their linked devices from their main account, and replaces the previous “delete account” option.

WABetaInfo tested the feature on the iOS version of the beta, but state that it will be available on Android as well. They also state that the feature works on both business and personal versions of WhatsApp.

There is currently no release date for the multi-device feature, but WABetaInfo is certain that it will completely change your experience. Whether or not such a feature will be enough to entice the many users who recently fled WhatsApp back remains to be seen.
