Here’s your first look at Godzilla vs. King Kong
Godzilla is cool. King Kong is also cool. You know what makes them even cooler? Tossing them into the same movie and have them beat the hell out of each other. We at Stuff will forever be fans of dumb action movies involving gigantic monsters going head-to-head so seeing the first trailer for Godzilla vs. King Kong… well, we’re excited, to say the least. The film both serves as a continuation of the modern Western Godzilla films that were rebooted in 2016 and as a means of linking the universe with the thoroughly under-appreciated Kong: Skull Island that released in 2017.
While we’ve seen this iteration of Godzilla fight off other kaiju in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, this will be the first time this iteration will tussle with King Kong. Godzilla vs. King Kong stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown and Rebecca Hall and will release in theatres (and HBO Max if you know a workaround in South Africa) on 26 March.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
FNB has processed its last ever cheques
Last Friday was somewhat of a historic day for FNB as the bank finally processed its last ever cheques. Those funny slips of paper that the youths will never understand have become an outdated means of payment and thus they’re being phased out. Or rather, they were phased. FNB won’t be cashing any more cheques in the future. Pour one out for cheques, they had a long and prosperous life.
Speaking to the occasion, FNB CEO Jacques Celliers said, “As we celebrate an end of an iconic chapter, we pave way for a new era of digital payments innovation. Cheques have played an important role in the history and development of the formal payments system in our country. Ironically, even some millennials who have never held a cheque book still refer to their salary or wages as a ‘pay cheque’.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
“iPhone 12s and pacemakers don’t mix”, says Apple
Throwing in a magnet into the back of the iPhone 12 was a genuinely good idea. MagSafe is a cool little accessory that simplifies a load of process and it adds another product onto Apple’s stock list that can be marked up exorbitantly. Yet magnets aren’t always good, especially when they’re kept in close proximity to a device used to keep a heart beating. That’s right, iPhone 12s and pacemakers are apparently not a very good combination.
MacRumours reported that Apple recently updated a support document warning users to try and keep their iPhone 12s at least six inches (15cm) away from their pacemakers. So just don’t fall asleep with your phone on your chest, we guess. Apple insisted that the extra magnets shouldn’t increase any risks related to pacemaker failure but doctors have also warned that they could interfere over extended periods of time. So maybe don’t leave your phone in your top shirt pocket.

Rumour has it Sony might revive the Xperia Compact
While it’s currently a pain to get your hands on a Sony Xperia smartphone in South Africa, we’re big enough fans that we’d jump through hoops to get our hands on a new Compact. The Xperia Compact line has been dead since 2018 but according to fairly reliable source OnLeaks, Sony is looking at bringing the line or small, efficient devices back into production. This reboot would reportedly have a 5.5″ display which is bigger than the iPhone 12 Mini but still miniscule compared to most flagships.
This rumoured Xperia would also include a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP selfie camera, a fingerprint sensor on the power button and a 3.5mm headphone jack (When last did we see one of those?!). There’s no confirmation on when you could expect to see this device or even if it exists but based on Sony’s past Xperia releases, we can expect to see it launch sometime in February. If this all turns out to be true.
