Super Nintendo World Japan looks RAD in this leaked video

How do theme parks maintain their secrecy for so long? Like, whenever you hear about Disney or Universal setting up some new major attraction, you’d think it’d be pretty easy to see it being developed. Sure, they have all that scaffolding with the big…curtains to keep prying eyes from seeing too much but it still baffles my mind how something so large and ostentatious can remain unseen for so long. That was the case for a long time with the long in-development theme park Super Nintendo World over in Universal Studios Japan. While the new attraction was meant to open this month, COVID-19 has ensured that Mario fans will have to wait a little longer before they can explore the Mushroom Kingdom in real life.

While it may not really match the experience of punching Question Boxes and throwing Koopa shells and loads of Goombas, the actual look of the park has leaked online in a lengthy little video that really captures all of the small details but still leaves a lot too be discovered when folks eventually start to rock up.

In the video posted to Twitter, you can see an incredibly accurate depiction of The Mushroom Kingdom, complete with rotating Piranha Plants, Koopa Troopers stalking the edges of cliffs and even coins that rotate in sync which is unnecessary and yet a totally awesome little addition to the theme! To get an idea of the scale of Super Nintendo World, check out this since deleted image from Instagram that Attractions Magazine grabbed before it was removed. It’s a pretty sizable space with more than enough room for jumping, sliding and…throwing fireballs, I guess?

Unfortunately, you folks desperate on checking out Super Nintendo World still have quite some time to wait given that the opening has been put on hold indefinitely due to the current pandemic. Still, something this awesome will definitely be worth the wait. Hopefully.
