Fujifilm launches the Instax Mini 11, which will retail for R1,200 in SA

There are few gadgets in this world that have lasted decades, only to still be widely used and loved. The Instax camera format is one of them, which is why Fujifilm’s portable shooter and printer range is doing so well. And we’re here for it. 

Fujifilm announced the new Instax Mini 11, which is a follow-up of the hugely popular Instax Mini 9. This time around, it features an ‘Automatic Exposure’ function, which essentially makes image quality look even better than those on the predecessors. “Here the camera automatically senses the level of ambient light when the shutter button is pressed, optimising the shutter speed and flash output according to the surrounding brightness” a press release details. 

This is awesome, considering the feature hasn’t made it to the budget range of Instax cameras before. This will decrease ‘blowout’ on pictures taken in low light, a well-known problem when it comes to small-format shooter/printers. 

It’s also got Selfie Mode — so you won’t need the additional adapter on the lens to take selfies easily. Now it can be activated by pulling out the front-end edge of the lens after powering the camera on. Done, and done. 

Like previous versions, the Instax Mini 11 will come in a variety of colours and is highly customisable. It’ll come to South Africa in five pale tone colours: Blush Pink, Sky Blue, Charcoal Gray, Ice White and Lilac Purple. It’ll be available from mid-July 2020, for R1,200, as well as in a full kit (including one pack of Instax film) for R1,350.
