Clean up your Facebook posts from 2009 with the Manage Activity Tool

Social media has been a blessing for a few and an outright curse to many more. Who allowed us to make Facebook accounts when we were fourteen years old? Whichever irresponsible adult let us do that should be punished for negligence because there is nothing more soul-crushing yet humbling than trawling through Facebook posts that are more than ten years old. If you’ve ever taken on the task of sifting through that old feed, you know how arduous it can be as you manually sift through every individual post. Thankfully, such a chore has been simplified thanks to the new Manage Activity tool.

The Manage Activity option will allow Facebook users to remove and delete old posts, photos and videos as one bulk option rather than individually selecting and deleting everything one at a time. Even better, you’ll be able to sort through all this activity with a filter system that will only display posts from a specific date, tagged with certain people or taken at a tagged location.

If you’ve recently gone through a difficult break-up and are trying to scrub your timeline clean of your now ex-lover, this will make the job much easier. Oh, snap! You just got back together after realising you were made for one another all along and now all your couple images are gone! Don’t worry, you’ll have 30 days to restore the posts before Facebook scrubs them clean from the site entirely. They’ll be sitting in a personal archive where only you can see them and once a month passes, they’ll be incinerated. That’s how that works, right?

Facebook has confirmed that they’ll be progressively adding to the feature in due time, although what kind of functionality one can expect has yet to be confirmed. Honestly, we’re just so pleased that we’ll be able to scrub our profiles of all those embarrassing high-school pictures. No-one needs reminders of that phase in their life.
