Sing along to your favourite Disney tunes on Spotify (or listen to them in silence)

When you’re in the office listening to Disney songs, are you outwardly vocal about your love of family-friendly ear-worms? Or do you keep your love of animated orchestral numbers undercover? We would recommend the latter. You don’t want people in your immediate vicinity knowing you have each word to ‘Let it Go’ from the Frozen soundtrack memorised. Especially now.

Spotify has released an extensive library of Disney songs, including the whole Star Wars score by John Williams, our favourite Marvel tunes and, of course, the Lion King soundtrack (see — ReMastered: The Lion’s Share). The library is one of the most impressive we’ve seen, with everything from classic Disney to newer soundtracks, with those from Coco, Frozen and Moana making an appearance.

Also, do yourself a favour and listen to at least one song from the Star Wars score — the progress bar looks like a familiar glowing weapon…

A whole new world

The Disney Hub is now available for all Spotify users in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and… wait for it… South Africa. For once we made some kind of list that isn’t the US Entity List.

It’s a compilation of not only movie soundtracks, but also carefully curated playlists. Among the playlists featured is Disney Princess, reserved for little girls and die-hard fans (jk, we know they’re all your guilty pleasure songs). Also present are Disney Favourites, which you’ll enjoy if you grew up in the ’90s, Disney Classics, which you’ll enjoy if you grew up any time before the ’90s, and even Disney Sing-Alongs.

Another, a Disney Hits playlist, is a compilation of the most-streamed Disney music on Spotify. The service made this playlist public as part of its Disney Hub launch announcement. It includes some of our faves like: ‘Life is a Highway’ by Rascal Flatts (from Cars) and ‘You’ll Be In My Heart’ by Phil Collins (from Tarzan). And what would a Disney Hits playlist even be without ‘A Whole New World’?
