The world’s thicc’est phone comes from Energizer and will last a week

Here’s another one we knew we were going to see at MWC: A phone with a frikkin’ 18,000mAh battery from Energizer. Do you know what this means? It means we’ve finally got the option of buying a smartphone that lasts a week. But will we be able to fit it in our pocket?

The Energizer Power Max P18K Pop has a name that suits its substantial girth. How substantial? 18mm substantial. Now that’s a thicc phone if ever there was one.

A battery of such massive proportions should last a long time. According to France’s Avenir Telecom — the company that licenses the Energizer brand — it should last a week with normal use, and can grind through 48 hours of continuous video playback. We would say those numbers are pretty conservative, and we’ve suddenly got a new contender for our desert island take-along item.

The P18K (that’s what we’re going to call it for short) also features a 6.2in LCD display, no notches and two selfie cams in a pop-up mechanism. Bizarrely, despite the thickness there’s still a camera bump for the three camera sensors around the back. Inside there’s a MediaTek processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and Android 9 on the front-end.

It’s unclear whether you can use Energizer’s big boi as a battery pack to charge other things… but we’d be surprised if you can’t.

The Verge describes the P18K perfectly by saying, “This 18,000mAh battery has a phone in it”. Because that’s exactly what it looks like. According to them, the Energizer Power Max P18K Pop will launch later this year, but we don’t have any indication of pricing or availability yet. Considering the state of Eskom, this phone could do really well in South Africa… assuming we remember to charge it when the power’s on, of course.
