DStv Now is Multichoice’s answer to the new video-on-demand format that has become increasingly popular in recent years. DStv’s online platform gives users streaming access to movies and series according to their current DStv package.
Many people are downgrading their DStv packages as they simply cannot afford the premium option anymore. It’s hardly a substitute but what if we told you that you can watch selected DStv titles on the platform for free?
How does it work?
Simply sign up on the DStv Now website for a free account, and you’ll be able to view some of South Africa’s finest local content — even some sport, which is what everyone in SA really wants.
So what can you watch for free?
The lineup consists of everything from local boxing series Ring of Lies (It’s already on its second season, chaps), Ya Lla, Kyknet’s Silwerskerm Fees, The Queen and Homeground, all while allowing access to selected live channels so you can stay up to date with breaking news and even listen to some sick beats. Or healthy beats. You might find some of those too.
For all the Afrikaans soapie-lovers, you can also catch a few episodes of season five of Binnelanders on the platform . And of course you’ll have access to a few ‘sneak peak’ first episodes of selected shows as a lure to get you to sign up for a full subscription.
Small DStv
Here you’ll find a host of animated (and non-animated) shows including Arthur, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, and Time Warp Trio — it seems that there is something for all age groups, depending on what your children like to watch.
Again — keep in mind that this should not be confused with the full DStv subscription. If you do have a subscription, you’ll be able to gain access to much more than the shows mentioned here. Most series only include one season or a partial season to boot, so don’t get your hopes up about bingeing The Queen free-of-charge this weekend. But there’s still something to be had from Multichoice for free — limited though it may be.
