Apple iPad Pro leaked renders suggest we can expect one sleek tablet

As expected, the internet is smothered in Apple rumours this week, leading up to their launch event on 12 September 2018, and some renders of the upcoming Apple iPad Pro have surfaced. Okay, the leaked renders might not be the real thing — but they’re close enough to the real thing to share with the world, and they look as sleek as we’d expect from anything the Cupertino company puts its name to.

At Apple’s launch event, we’ll hopefully see the new iPad Pro announced alongside three new handsets and the 4th generation Apple Watch, but until then we’ll have to make do with the rumours and leaks that continue to roll in about gold colour options and a jumbo version of the iPhone X.

Take a look around

The set of renders, along with a video, were posted by Mysmartprice, and are allegedly based on leaked CAD designs. They show the new iPad from all sides, and we can just admire the (expected) Apple-likeness. It’s good to keep in mind that, even if they are based on an original CAD design for the iPad, the final version of the device could still look different.

If these are anything to go by, the new iPad definitely differs from the older models in a few ways — we cannot find the headphone jack, sadly, and the bezels seem a lot slimmer, although not super slim. We’re relieved to see the notch from the iPhone X hasn’t crossed over to iPad land, though.

Mystery bits and bobs

Interestingly, there’s what looks like a smart connector (three metal contacts) located above the Lightning port on the back of the device. Usually the smart connector is on the side of an iPad so it can be used for smart covers, keyboards and the like. So we’ll have to wait and see what it’s for in this case.

There’s also an obscure button on the right-hand side, and we’re not sure what it’s for, but it might be an extra programmable button, something dedicated to the Apple Pencil, or something completely different and we’re way off… or, you know, it could be nothing at all and the renders could be fake.

We’ll have to wait for Apple’s event on 12 September to confirm or debunk this latest set of rumours… but if even only some of them are right we’ll gladly take one.
