Apple rumour roundup: New iPhones, iPad Pros, and a Mac Mini expected

We’re expecting at least a few upgraded and/or new hardware products to launch later this year from Apple, which will include three new iPhones, two new iPads and a whole lineup of new Macs.

Ming-Chi Kuo, trusted Apple commentator and KGI analyst, published a research note with his predictions for Apple’s fall (or US autumn, spring here, of course) 2018 hardware lineup, that was also published on 9to5Mac. Although Kuo tends to get it right when it comes to Apple-related predictions, don’t hold it against us if some of these fail to materialise.

According to the Apple whisperer, we’ll see three new iPhones, a new Mac Mini, the (long overdue) AirPower wireless charger, two iPads and a host of other exciting products in this year.

What will we (potentially) see from Apple?

As we’ve discussed before, we’ll likely see three new iPhones, including a 5.8in OLED iPhone, a 6.5in OLED iPhone Plus and the more affordable 6.1in LCD iPhone. These are all expected to be based on their predecessor, the iPhone X… so expect a notch, in other words.

Rumours suggest we might also see two new iPads: A 12.9in and an 11in iPad Pro, both sporting FaceID and, hence, sans home button. Apple has every right to be that confident in their facial recognition software, the iPhone X’s biometric security hasn’t let us down yet.

We’ll also expecting a slew of new Macs, which we can’t wait to get our hands on. This will likely include a new MacBook, a MacBook Pro, an iMac and the return of the Mac Mini. Kuo also predicts that Apple will replace the outdated MacBook Air with a new budget laptop model, which will create a great, balanced lineup.

On the wearables front, we’ll likely see two new Apple Watches, one with a 1.57in display, another with a 1.78in display. Both will be fitted with enhanced heart rate detection, with the same waterproofness of their recent predecessors.

After the announcement of their new AirPower wireless charger last year, we’re pretty confident Apple will actually release it this year. Just don’t chuck away that wired charger just yet, yeah?

Of course, we’re also waiting in anticipation for the AirPods 2.0 that are rumoured to be waterproof (to some degree) and support wireless charging.

Obviously, this amounts to a pretty gigantic lineup… so we might be in for a whopper of a keynote from Apple come September. Here’s hoping the rumours are all true, though, as there’s nothing on this list we don’t want to see.
