Oculus Go could launch from Facebook as soon as this May

Facebook has been sitting on the standalone Oculus Go headset for a while, with no announcement in sight for when it’ll drop on the VR-craving masses. Well, VR-craving users — we’re not quite ready for ‘masses’ just yet. A new report claims that we’re going to see the Oculus Go unleashed on the world rather soon, though. Facebook is planning on dropping their affordable VR gear on 1 May, at the f8 developer conference that Facebook hosts every year. That is according to sources “familiar with the company’s plans” — Facebook isn’t commenting at the moment. The Oculus Go was announced in October last year and we reckon the company has had enough time to incubate the tech. If this report is on the nose, we should see it in the wild in just a few weeks.

One of Apple’s iOS 11 UI bugs made it into this iPhone X ad

Well that’s just embarrassing. For Apple, that is. An ad released for the iPhone X’s Face ID unlocking feature has a bug in it. An actual bug, taken from Apple’s iOS 11 operating system, which sees a message appearing on the front lock screen as text before the bubble that’s supposed to enclose it catches up to it. It’s not a train-smash by anyone’s standards but it’s a slip-up that we don’t typically see from Apple. If you want to see the bug for yourself, you’ll spot it at the 0:50 mark in the video above. Blink and you’ll miss it. Unless you have an iPhone running iOS 11, in which case you probably see it all the time. Lucky you.

Looks like we’ve got a new Sonic Racing on the way

If you’ve never played Sonic Racing with four other players on the same screen then you’re… probably a Nintendo fan, through and through. But the Sonic Racing series is a hoot in its own right — brightly coloured, tightly wound kart racing that sees opponents lobbing weapons at each other and occasionally transforming from track to water to air and back again as the tracks modify themselves. Sounds cool, right? And there’s a new one on the way, if this teaser trailer is anything to go by, but it could be a slightly different animal. There’s not much to see, just a car in close-up, some engine noise, and the Sonic Racing logo in silhouette. The R being highlighted is take from a game called Sonic R from the Sega Saturn and the impression we’re getting from the car is a little more… realistic than the usual kart racing. How do these things combine?

Avengers: Infinity War looks ready to outdo Black Panther‘s amazing box office performance

If you’ve been paying attention to the internet at all in the past few months you’ll know that Marvel film Black Panther has been doing very, very well the world over. So well, in fact, that the only way to beat it seems to be to throw as many superheroes in viewers’ direction as possible. Which is just what Avengers: Infinity War is going to do. The latest trailer gives us some idea of the scale of this film and how many heroes are going to be present (though there are a few that are MIA) but it’s already breaking pre-sales records — include the one set by Black Panther. Avengers: Infinity War will be kicking off in South Africa on 27 April, along with the rest of the world.
