Light Start – More Star Wars coming, Switch production, Apple’s AR, and Injustice 2 Turtles

You had to know this was coming: Another trilogy of Star Wars films announced

What, you thought it was over? Star Wars films are never going to be going away, as evidenced by a new announcement in a Disney earnings call last week. Long story short, there’s a new trilogy of Star Wars films in the works. Details are thin but it all apparently involve “new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored.” Sounds like fun. Timelines haven’t been released but we’ll likely only see something after 2019 when the current trilogy ends. Oh, and there is also a Star Wars series in the works, likely for release on Disney’s upcoming streaming service. It’s a good time to be a Jedi.

It looks like soon you’ll have all the Switch consoles you can handle

Nintendo took things easy with the launch of the Nintendo Switch, their awesome little handheld console. But it seems that the positive reaction and the consistently great games are telling at last, convincing the company to ramp up production of the gaming hardware. If a Wall Street Journal report is on the (heh) money, Nintendo could be about to add 25 to 30 million consoles to their current order over the next year and a bit – a number that doesn’t account for the 17 million Switch consoles that Nintendo is hoping to shift by March 2018. They appear to be on track for that one and they might be close to 50 million consoles by April 2019 — meaning we shouldn’t have hassles finding them on sale for the next couple of years.

Apple reportedly working on its own AR headset and operating system

Would you get yourself a set of AR glasses if they were made by Apple? Apple could be banking on the idea that you might just be interested, because there are reports that the company is working on its very own set of augmented reality glasses as well as an operating system for them, called rOS (reality operating system). A custom chip, head-tracking and voice control are all said to be features of the hardware and a 2020 release is the year being thrown around. It’s nowhere near official yet, because Apple does love keeping secrets, but considering that Apple has gone in on their ARKit functions for the iPhone X a move like this isn’t such a stretch to believe.

Up next for Injustice 2 — the Ninja Turtles are coming to kick ass

You know how it is, you’re fighting a superhuman opponent when suddenly a quartet of mutant turtles with a ninja bent show up and start kicking large amounts of buttock. That’s the case with fighting title Injustice 2, which will be bringing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the DC-themed battler in an upcoming character pack. You can see the four heroes (come on, don’t pretend you don’t know their names) in the video above and it seems they’ll be fighting as a single character. Oh, and the majority of the video is taken up by Atom and Enchantress, DC characters that are suddenly taking a back seat. Because Turtles. The Injustice 2 Fighter Pack 3 will launch later this year.
