LG V30 leaks, official announcement coming 31 August

What a month (and a bit) this is turning out to be. Samsung’s got a launch event for the Note 8 coming, Apple is due soon and now the LG V30 is going to be getting a reveal at the end of August. Another reveal, that is, a better one than the most recent revelation. But more on that in a bit.

LG has sent out media invitations for their next hardware event, dating the announcement for 31 August in Berlin, Germany. Which is right before IFA kicks off, so the timing makes sense — even if it’s right in between Samsung and Apple’s announcements.

LG has also confirmed what will be seen at the hardware event, namely the LG V30. The V30 is the successor to LG’s impressive V20 handset, which lifted more eyebrows in the Stuff offices than LG’s flagship G6 managed this year. We’re hoping that the company puts in a repeat performance.

And if you were wondering what the LG V30 looks like, you don’t really have to wonder. Just prior to LG’s invitation mailing came a sizeable leak by a company called HITRECORD (yes, in all-caps). The newest member of LG’s V-family was prominently featured in a succession of videos by the collaborative production company. Those videos have since been taken down but the internet is quick off the mark and always remembers to take screenshots, so we’ve got… an exact idea what LG’s new handset entails, visually.
