McLaren’s 675LT is the sort of car you’ve always wanted to drive
Thanks, Captain Obvious. You really think we wouldn’t sacrifice several internal organs to own a McLaren 675LT? Even though selling said organs on the black market still wouldn’t let us afford one. Like all petrolheads on a budget, we can still dream. And maybe hate The Verge columnist Jason H. Harper just a little bit. He’s taken the 675LT for a drive and his impressions of this V8, twin-turbo, 3.8 litre, 666 horsepower (yes, really), R5.8 million supercar deserve to be read. You might as well be in the cockpit with him.
Mark Zuckerberg and Pricilla Chan will be donating their stake in Facebook to humanity
Well that’s something. Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Pricilla Chan have announced, in a letter to their newly born daughter, that they intend to give away 99% of their stake in Facebook to charity during the course of their lives, saying “Our initial areas of focus will be personalized learning, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities.” The funding will go to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, it seems, which will receive three initial cash injections, from the sale of Zuckerberg’s Facebook stock, of $1 billion per year over three years. More details will be forthcoming in the next few months but… uh… wow.
SpaceX’s next rocket landing attempt will be over solid ground
Man, Elon Musk might have taken the Blue Origin rocket landing a little personally. SpaceX’s next launch will see them attempting to land a Falcon 9 rocket at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and not on a platform bobbing in the ocean, which always struck us as the difficult way to do things. They’ve had success with the Grasshopper test rockets and there’s a chance that SpaceX will manage to nail this landing – which puts reusable rockets in their pocket and, potentially, makes space travel a whole lot cheaper to implement. Nice.
Samsung’s made a web browser designed for use with the Gear VR
They may be good at new tech but Samsung are a bit crap when it comes to names. Samsung Internet for Gear VR is the name of the web browser that the company has made for use with… that’s right, the Gear VR headset, the consumer version of which should be appearing everywhere soon. There’s voice control coming, as well as a keyboard in the VR view, but it’s the Gaze Mode, where users can select menus by looking at them, that interests us. Whether this is going to be a polished browser isn’t set in stone but at least someone’s thinking about navigating the net while wearing a VR headset. A beta of Samsung’s new software will be hitting the Oculus Store today but you’ll need Samsung’s latest hardware (and a Gear VR) to run it.

The company is giving away 10-year-old Bioware role-playing game Jade Empire to PC users, free of charge, with their On The House program. There’s no catch, other than needing an EA Origin account, but you will have to act fast.
