Samsung makes the W2016 flip-phone official

It’s a short jump from a leak to an official announcement and Samsung’s dual-screened flip-phone has made the hop. Samsung have made the W2016 flip-phone real, announcing that it’ll be launching for the Chinese market.

They’ve also made the specs and build official, with a series of more attractive product shots (like the one above) doing the rounds. That means that W2016 users can look forward to two 3.9-inch 1,280 x 768 screens which are being powered by an Exynos 7420, 3GB of RAM and there will be 64GB of storage to play with.

Them’s Galaxy S6 specs. Aside from the screen res but then there are two of them… The camera arrangement, battery allocation and other details from the previous report have also proved correct.

Samsung haven’t said everywhere the phone will be launching (still) but since the reveal came by way of the company’s Chinese site and the initial leak came via the Chinese regulator, we’re going to have to say that China’s the target market here. Though, judging by the global interest, they would do well to consider an ‘experimental’ market release or two.
