Samsung’s Galaxy S7 – Force Touch and three variants incoming?

It wasn’t long at all after the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge appeared that speculation started concerning Samsung’s Galaxy S7. Chief among the rumours was the idea that Samsung might be releasing their next flagship sooner than usual, thanks to a revamped design and manufacture process, which accounts for all the reports out there. And there are, of course, a few more rumours floating around.

Use The Force

Like the idea that Samsung’s Galaxy S7 could have something approximating Apple’s Force Touch/3D Touch when it launches – somewhere between December this year and February next year if the rumours have the straight of it. It could happen and a company called Synaptics might make it a reality with a similar-but-not-3D-Touch technology called ClearForce.

Synaptics may a history of working with Samsung so it’s not out of the question that we’ll see this in an S7 handset but the developer might also be selling their tech to all comers – so Apple’s 3D Touch may not remain exclusive for very long at all.

Three Times The Fun

Another report claims that we might see an extra Galaxy S7 this year. There are usually at least two at launch, not counting the Edge versions we’ve seen of late, which use an Exynos and Qualcomm processor respectively. That’s not going to change. But there’s still an extra CPU in the mix.

According to SamMobile, Samsung could be looking at using the Exynos 8890 for Japan, Korea and Europe’s markets, which the States and China will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip. We know about these already. The third version, though, will reportedly launch in India and will use an Exynos 7422 processor. South Africa being the way it is, we’ll likely wind up with both the Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890 versions on the market here at home.
