ASUS brings the UX305 FA to South Africa

Sometimes you have to set your sights high and ASUS have set theirs on Apple, specifically on the New MacBook and the MacBook Pro, with the launch of their Zenbook UX305 FA laptop in South Africa. The new Zenbook lineup is being aimed at “…ambitious, mobile achievers who have high expectations of their work and entertainment technology”, according to the company’s Werner Joubert. Sounds a lot like Apple’s target market to us.

UX305 FA

ASUS’ Zenbook comes in at just 12.3mm through its thickest point, with a weight of 1.2kg. That’s not shabby at all for a 13.3-inch notebook which starts at a 1080p resolution and scales up to a QHD+ (3,200 x 1,800) screen if you want it. The series uses Intel’s Core M processors, like those found in Apple’s 12-inch New MacBook, which helps to contribute to the claimed 10-hour battery life.

The Zenbook UX305 FA is being launched, in addition to the UX305 LA model, but ASUS have only given us pricing for the first of these and, even then, it’s only for a specific configuration. The Zenbook UX305 FA with a QHD screen, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB solid-state drive will feature recommended pricing of R12,000, according to ASUS’ local representatives, at Dion Wired stores. It’s not priced or even viewable on the retailer’s site yet, so we’d keep an eye on it for when it does appear.
