Samsung stores are coming to Durban and Cape Town

Korean electronics behemoth Samsung has announced that it’s opening two new, dedicated Samsung-brand stores next month, one in Durban’s Pavillion Shopping Centre and the other in Cape Town’s Somerset Mall.

Samsung’s Brand Stores are the company’s physical retail outlets that allow consumers to ogle and fiddle with the company’s vast range of products in person, from mobile phones, displays and cameras to refrigerators, washing machines and microwaves.

Galaxy S6 OfficialThe stores also include Samsung’s Quick Repair Service centres to deal with cracked mobile phone displays and the like.

The Durban store will open first on 2 April, with the Cape Town store due to follow on 10 April. The new stores will bring the total number of South African Samsung Brand Stores to 16.

In a country where online retail penetration is still limited and many consumers still favour getting their hands on physical devices before forking over cash for them, Samsung’s growing retail presence may well prove both pragmatic and lucrative.

The new stores are opening just in time for the local arrival of Samsung’s new flagship devices, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, which go on sale in South Africa on 10 April.
