Rugged Samsung XCover 3 looks like it can take quite a beating

Leaked photos of an alleged Samsung Galaxy XCover 3 show off a phone that’s made for more than snapping cappuccino art in cosy coffee shops.

Unlike Samsung’s Galaxy S Active handsets which offer IP67-rated water/dust-proofing, the XCover range throws in the addition of shock protection too – ideal for more ‘Xtreme’ activities like rock climbing, brick juggling and building site parkour sessions.

samsung-xcover-3Obtained by GSM Arena, the photos show off the front and rear of a rugged-looking smartphone, which appears to have in-built rubber or plastic bumpers for drop protection.

The bumper looks like it extends beyond the screen too, which should help reduce the risk of smashing the display should gravity spontaneously decide to intervene one day.

It looks like the rear cover is removable too, thanks to a small indent on the left hand side, so we’re probably looking at a traditionally tasty Samsung combo of a removable battery and microSD slot.

Specs-wise, there’s not too much to get your heart racing. It will allegedly land with a 4.8in 800 x 400 screen, a Marvell-made quad-core 64-bit processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

There’s no word on megapixels as of yet, but we’ll update this story as more information comes in.
