HTC One M9 with tweaked camera, smartwatch thought to arrive as soon as March

HTC has got an event planned for 1 March this year at Mobile World Congress where they’re thought to be unveiling the next flagship in their product lineup. Their tagline for the event is ‘Utopia in progress’ and while we’re not entirely sure what that means, we can take a few good guesses.

HTC One M8Guesses backed up by a Bloomberg report that cites “a person familiar with the matter” as saying that HTC is planning on revealing a new smartphone which will indeed be known as the M9. Well, the code-name contains M9, anyway.

What we can expect from the handset are improved audio and camera features, with a 20MP front camera reported to be in the offing. A revamped UltraPixel front cam is also supposed to be on the way, for high-quality selfies. And stuff. Specifics on the front camera don’t go into much detail beyond that at present.

Otherwise, a Snapdragon 810 and Dolby 5.1 audio are expected, as is Sense 7 from HTC.

A smartwatch is also supposedly going to be announced at the same time as the new M9 handset and while we’re not sure what the wearable will entail, it is supposed to function with Under Armour’s fitness software. HTC recently entered into a partnership with the company so such a move would make sense.

HTC hasn’t commented on the reports as yet so we’ll likely have to wait till a handset leaks or HTC makes something official. We’ll keep you updated on developments.
