Here’s a look at Samsung’s Galaxy A5

Samsung’s Galaxy Alpha smartphone is the company’s first real take on a metal-bodied smartphone but there’s more in this vein in store from the South Korean outfit, if the most recent report by SamMobile is on the money.

According to the Samsung-focused tech website, Samsung has a new handset on the way called the Galaxy A5. The A5 borrows more than a little from the recently-confirmed Galaxy Alpha and there are other devices in the range on the way as well.

Galaxy A5The Galaxy A5 is set to be a relative of the Alpha, in terms of design at the very least but that’s not unusual for a Samsung phone. They do tend to look very similar. But, according to SamMobile‘s sources, the Galaxy A5 won’t actually be made from metal. Instead there’s supposedly another material that will be used for its construction, one that is neither metal nor plastic. We’re stumped on that one but if it feels and acts metallic, most users probably won’t mind much.

On to the specs portion of our show and this is where the A5 starts looking like a Samsung device, albeit a mid-range one. A 5-inch S-AMOLED screen is in the works, with a Snapdragon 400 processor, and 16GB of storage being standard. The battery? A 2,330mAh affair, while Samsung is said to be including a 13MP rear and 5MP front camera in the unit as well. It looks as though they’re trying to undercut HTC’s One M8 market a bit with this phone.

SamMobile has several images of the phone itself but there’s no current indication when or where we’ll see it. But it certainly looks like it’s on its way. We’ll update once more information becomes available.
