Huawei opens its first South African store, launches E5760 Mobile WiFi

Yesterday in Midrand, Johannesburg, Chinese technology company Huawei officially opened its first branded store in South Africa. The store, which is located in the Vodacom World complex, has been open to the public since 12 February but the 5 March opening was the official ribbon-cutting – complete with electric violins and magic tricks.

Huawei’s Key Account General Manager  for Vodacom Bruce Wong said “The opening of our first store cements our commitment to South Africa and the continent. We have expansion plans in place to open additional stores in other parts of South Africa in the very near future. The launch of our store in Johannesburg is just the beginning.”

The company also used the opening to launch a new mobile WiFi device, the E5760 Mobile WiFi block. The device allows users to connect up to ten mobile devices to a mobile data connection, connect the device to a LAN-only computer, or even use the E5760’s 5,200mAh battery to charge mobile devices.

Stuff Magazine will have a review on Huawei’s versatile little mobile brick shortly so keep your eyes open for that.
