Apple/Samsung mediation fails, both companies will head back to court

Apple and Samsung opted to take a seat around a negotiating table prior to butting heads in the courtroom again but efforts to come to some sort of agreement that would settle matters appear to have been fruitless.

Both companies have said in a filing that they were unable to reach an agreement during mediation, meaning that they will be meeting again in court to settle things in a less civilised manner – with lawyers.

The Wall Street Journal reports that, since the mediation concerned itself with several of the newer devices on both sides of the quarrel, it is likely that Samsung will find itself facing higher damages that the company would have if their differences with Apple had been settled out of court. Samsung’s increased sales of smartphones and tablets have painted an even larger bullseye on the company’s back.
