Apple’s App Store had a very good 2013

Apple’s App Store has had a bumper year in 2013 according to the company, netting sales of over $10 billion in 2013. December proved to be the most profitable month for the App Store, accounting for over $1 billion of the year’s total.

That sales total of $1 billion makes December 2013, with its 3 billion downloads, the most successful month to date for the App Store. Apple says that, so far, developers have earned $15 billion from App Store sales

Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, said in a statement “We’d like to thank our customers for making 2013 the best year ever for the App Store. The lineup of apps for the holiday season was astonishing and we look forward to seeing what developers create in 2014.”

Nobody seems to have really taken advantage of Apple’s new 64-bit processors on the App Store as yet so Eddy Cue’s excitement is likely shared by more than just Cupertino.
