BlackBerry will be launching BBM Channels today for BlackBerry OS devices – those that support BB OS 5 or later and BlackBerry 10 will be getting access to the new Channels feature via BlackBerry World.
BBM Channels, which BlackBerry calls a “…forum for active, real conversations between people, brands and communities”, was in a limited beta earlier this year.
The more widely available version will let users “…post messages, share pictures, spark discussions, post animated GIFs and chat directly with subscribers”, with integrated live chat functions being a feature where channel owners can converse with their followers at pre-designated times.
There is also an Android and iOS version of BBM Channels on the way, but it’s still be a few months before before it gets to us.
