Dual Pixel CMOS AF upgrade for Canon’s EOS C100 coming early 2014

Canon South Africa has announced, via a press release, that their EOS C100 camcorder will be getting an upgrade that will enable Dual Pixel CMOS AF (auto-focus) functionality on the video camera, a first for the product line – though it has been around in Canon’s DSLR lineup for a while.

The addition of Dual Pixel CMOS AF (DAF) to the EOS C100 is possible because Canon originally used a compatible sensor in the unit, one which can now be upgraded to provide “greater accuracy and control of focus when shooting” following.

The upgrade, which will be a paid-for update of the camera’s Super35mm sensor, will become available in the early stages of 2014 at Canon’s Regional Competence Centres.
