BlackBerry announces KPMG purchase of 3,500 BB10 handsets

Fresh from placing full-page advertisements that “you can count on us” BlackBerry is now issuing press releases when it closes major deals with big customers. BlackBerry has seen its share price pummelled in the past two years, especially since it announced recently that it would put itself up for sale, and this is clearly designed to counter such negative perceptions.

On Thursday, BlackBerry said KPMG’s Italian operation has bought “3,500 BlackBerry 10 smartphones and is migrating to BlackBerry’s new Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution, BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10.”

The number is inconsequential in global sales terms (Apple sold 9 million iPhone 5S and 5Cs in the first weekend alone) but confirms that the big auditing firm is still using the Canadian company’s secure system.
