HTC One Max is official and yes, it has a fingerprint scanner

HTC’s One Max handset has been speculated on and leaked from here to next week, with the most recent revelation being the presence of a fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone. Given all of the information about the phone that was already known, it’s past time for HTC to detail the handset officially. And that’s just what the company has done.

The smartphone has been made official overseas and looks to be an oversized version of the HTC One. The One Max features a 5.9-inch display (1080p), edging the smartphone into phablet territory. The fingerprint scanner at the back of the handset has also been confirmed and there’s an option to expand the phones storage by up to 64GB via microSD.

Internally, the One Max hangs onto the 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 CPU, 2GB of system memory, 16GB or 32GB of storage, and the 4MP UltraPixel camera from the One. HTC have added a new Sense 5.5 UI and the smartphone is running Android 4.3. Oh, and there’s a 3300mAh battery in there.

The Verge reports that the One Max will become available almost immediately in Europe and Asia at tomorrow’s launch event. Whether that extends to SA is unknown at the moment.
