Samsung to demo 13.3-inch 3,200 x 1,800 notebook display at Display Week 2013

Samsung has detailed the display technology that the South Korean company will have on show at the Society for Information Display’s Display Week 2013, which is set to kick off tomorrow and run through to 23 May.

Among the tech being demonstrated is a 13.3-inch WQXGA+ LCD display for notebooks; which has a resolution of 3,200 x 1,800 that outdoes Apple’s current Retina displays. Samsung will also have a 10-inch LCD display for tablets at the event with a Retina-matching 2,560 x 1,600 resolution.

Samsung says that the 13.3-inch screen “can deliver 30 percent greater power-savings than that of existing LCD tablet displays, by decreasing the number of driver circuits and increasing the efficiency of the LED BLU.”

Also on show will be a Full HD 5-inch mobile AMOLED screen (1,920 x 1,080) “with the world’s broadest color gamut” and a new 85-inch UHD LCD TV panel that is said to offer the same percentage of power-saving benefits as the company’s 13.3-inch notebook display thanks to an “LCD technology that enables local-dimming control in a direct LED-based LCD panel.”
