DStv cutting a deal with Capitec to knock down streaming prices

MultiChoice and Capitec are partnering up. Again. Specifically, MultiChoice is looking to imitate the deal struck up between Showmax and the bank not so long ago – the one that gives Capitec customers an excellent deal when subscribing to the home-grown streaming service when picking up vouchers through the Capitec app. Except this time, it’s giving customers a break on the price of DStv.

DStv Price Hikes

“We’re pleased to announce that from next month, Capitec clients will also benefit from discounted access to DStv Stream plans, giving them more ways to enjoy premium entertainment at a reduced cost,” MultiChoice told MyBroadband.

According to Capitec CEO Gerrie Nel, this deal with Capitec affirms Multichoice’s goal to make “content more accessible and affordable for all our customers.” In addition to the deal to halve Showmax vouchers, DStv Stream vouchers will be added to the fold.

Unfortunately, there’s no word on what those prices will look like just yet. Neither MultiChoice nor Capitec has divulged the pricing scheme that will be used, but that’ll be changing soon. We do, however, know it will offer a range of vouchers on the Capitec app, offering customers reduced prices on even the most expensive packages under the broadcaster’s wing. Streaming packages, obviously.

We also know that, like the Showmax deal, these cheaper DStv Stream vouchers must be purchased via the Capitec banking app – but are redeemable by anyone. This means Capitec customers can buy and share the vouchers with anyone they please, saving friends and family a few extra bucks per month.
