Xbox’s one-of-a-kind Diablo IV console is an unholy hunk of art (and we want one)

We get it. You’re still working your way through the massive catalogue of GOTY-worthy games. If you’re doing it right, there’s a good chance that you’re about a third of the way through Tears of the Kingdom and haven’t even thought about conquering Jedi Survivor, Spider-Man 2 or Diablo IV. You might want to turn your attention to the latter, especially if you’re missing an Xbox from your life.

Xbox has teamed up with the developers behind Diablo IV to create an exclusive (and we mean exclusive) Xbox Series X “inspired by the forces of evil that threaten the world of Sanctuary.” And Microsoft is just giving it away. You’ll need to put in some work over on Twitter X to even stand a chance, but for a chunk of the Devil this beautiful, we’d say that’s fair. There’s just one problem. It doesn’t work.

Art doesn’t pay (or work, either)

Diablo IV Main

If you’re familiar with Auguste Rodin’s work – specifically The Gates of Hell – or you’ve just played through a Diablo game before, you’ll recognize the motif the console is going for. It’s a collaboration of artists blending real life with deep-cut Diablo lore, culminating in the piece of art you see before you. And that’s all it is. A piece of art.

That’s why you’re always meant to read the fine print, which you can do here. Xbox lists the “Grand Prize” as containing a “customized Xbox Series X console with Diablo IV artwork (non-functional, to be used as an art-piece),” which is then accompanied by a bog-standard Xbox Series X. You’ll probably want to hide that one under your desk when guests come over.

Xbox’s announcement mentions that two lucky entrants will be walking away with “one Hell of a prize,” though it doesn’t ever get around to letting you know what that is. We’d like it to be a working Diablo IV console, but honestly, we’d be happy with whatever Xbox threw our way.

How to enter:

First, be eighteen. Next, you’ll want to make sure that you’re on the list of countries eligible for the tournament. We’ll save you some time and let you know that South Africa is involved. Next, you’ll need to head over to X, sign in and follow the official @Xbox and @Diablo accounts. Repost this post with the official #DiabloIVXboxSweepstakes and you’re good to go.

Make sure the account you’re posting from is set to “public” otherwise Xbox will totally ignore your entry. It’s best to keep anything that could be construed as “offensive, violent, defamatory, disparaging, or illegal” or that promotes any of those things you learn about in primary school LO out of the post too.

There’s no rush to get your entry(s) in right away, but it’ll need to be done before 30 October 2023 at 11:59 PM. South Africa, that means you’ve got until 09:00 AM the following Tuesday to get those entries in. Good luck.
