Still don’t have one of the three current-gen gaming consoles? You’re probably not alone. When the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles launched in November 2020, the improvements over the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X|S made them rather popular. The state of the world at the time certainly didn’t make getting your hands on one any easier.
If you still have a PS5- or Xbox Series X-shaped gap on your shelf and were hesitant to pull the trigger, this is the sign you’ve been waiting for.
How much is that console in the window?
This price cut means the Xbox Series X console will cost R11,000 instead of the usual R12,000 for the duration of the promotion. On the cheaper side of things, the Xbox Series S’s new price will be R6,000. Don’t believe us? Here’s the math:
Xbox Series X: old price – price cut = new price (R12,000 – R1,000 = R11,000)
Xbox Series S: old price – price cut = new price (R7,000 – R1,000 = R6,000)
Aspiring PlayStation 5 owners aren’t being left in the lurch, that console will also receive a price cut. Future PS5 buyers will have to wait a little longer to cash in as their sale kicks off on 31 March 2023 and runs until 10 April 2023. This puts prices for the standalone digital and physical disc consoles at R9,300 and R11,500 respectively. That makes the digital console even cheaper than it was before it received a price hike towards the end of last year, along with the disc unit. Here are the formulae for those:
PS5 digital edition (1TB): OP – PC = NP (R10,300 – R1,000 = R9,300)
PS5 disc edition: OP – PC = NP (R12,500 – R1,000 = R11,500)
