Instagram says it fixed suspension bug, some say they remain logged out

INSTAGRAM

Some Instagram users across the world could not log into their accounts on Monday, some even received a message letting them know their accounts had been suspended. Additionally, others also noticed their follower count dropping… oh the horror.

“We suspended your account on October 31, 2022,” notes a message to Instagram users who had been affected.

The good news is, it was mostly because of a bug. Yes, some of you may have really lost followers and some of you may have been suspended for valid reasons. But for those that behave themselves on social media, it might have come as a surprise.

iPhone users on Reddit noted how they began experiencing problems after updating their app. While others did not experience any issues after the update, some say their app crashed after installing the update.

Following an outcry on Twitter on Monday, the Meta-owned social media platform apologised with the hashtag “#instagramdown”.

Another apology…but some remain suspended

On Tuesday morning the platform apologized again, this time noting it had resolved the ‘bug’ on the platform.

“We’ve resolved this bug now – it was causing people in different parts of the world to have issues accessing their accounts and caused a temporary change for some in number of followers. Sorry!” notes Instagram.

However, in response to the apology, some Instagram users say they are still not able to log in on to the platform and remain suspended.
