LG’s newest air purifier functions as a table. Also, it’s a lamp

LG Purifier row

Since LG stopped making smartphones, it has spent time making other things. TVs, yes, but also more interesting items, like air purifiers. Some of these are… unusual (and also hard to locate). Others, like the new PuriCare Objet Collection Aero Furniture, are just unusual.

LG will unveil its new air purifier range at IFA in Berlin this year, which means you can expect  to see it in South Africa… well, later. But it could well be worth checking out since the South Korean company has set out to make it practical.

Send in the purifier

Not that decent air quality isn’t a practical aim in itself. But sticking an air purifier in a room has it just sit there, whirring and taking up table space. The company’s Aero Furniture has said, more or less, “Look at me. I’m the table now.”

But in this age of hustle culture, nobody is ever one thing anymore. This might be why LG has fitted the table/purifier with mood lighting. Might as well give it a second third function.

LG’s Aero Furniture isn’t massive — it’s designed to suit a small room or study — and it’ll be available in eight different shades. It may be customised, in terms of colour distribution, and there are different tabletops available too. On to the more important features, it uses LG’s UVnano tech, found in the company’s wireless bud cases, as well as the company’s Ultra-fine Filter, Dust Collector Filter, and Deodorization Filter features.

Since it supports the company’s ThinQ app, it’ll slot right into a smart home environment. If you’ve only got an LG TV at home, adding this air purifier (plus the app) gives you the start of an intelligent domicile. Even if it’s just mood lighting to go with your Netflix viewing.
